![]() Sorry if this is all obvious to you, but I have a hard time imagining that the game is somehow more "arcadeish" than the previous entry in the series, when all I've heard and read suggest the opposite. Often that setup was nothing like the default.įor the curves where the car doesn't turn, are those maybe ones where the road surface is uneven or muddy, or there's a change in the incline as well? Details like that will definitely mess with your grip and affect the speed you can expect to be able to take the turn. ![]() With some cars I had to experiment a lot before I found a setup I could handle with my gamepad and my barely adequate skills. Unless you're playing with several assists enabled, you simply can't skip tuning before an event, and often between stages as well to compensate for differing surface conditions, jumps etc. Last edited by Koopacabras on 17 March 2022 at 1:37 am UTCĭid you ever play the first Dirt Rally? I haven't tried the second one or the WRC series (simply because they're not native), and I can't claim I'm an expert, but to me the handling in the first DR felt more realistic and thus more unforgiving than in any other rally sim I've played. But now I changed my mind, yeah copilot is better but there's also a lot of memorizing needed on this game to be good. Maybe someone has figured out why this sort of "glitches" happen, for example in WRC8 when you pass over a puddle you don't have to accelarate over it when passing because the car will go out of control, it took me a long time to figure that out.Īlso when I switched to play WRC8 I had the impression that because of the better copilot voice instructions Dirt Rally games needed less memorizing of the tracks. I really don't think that on real rallies breaks fail like that. Maybe the impression I have is that relying more on luck is what you'd expect more from an arcadeish rally and not from a simulation type of rally game. In WRC8 there's some luck involved but not like this. I think that compared to WRC8 luck is a lot more involved here, it's a hit and miss, like tossing a coin in the air, even if you are very careful because of the inconsitencies you could still end up doing pretty bad. ![]() I can win an event coming 1st with a good time lead, while in the next event I can end up like 20th or even I ended up 30th one time and then 1st on the next event.Īnyone has the same feeling about this game? I have yet to figure out why this type of behaviours happen. I even have the impression that depending on the curve the car won't turn. Another inconsistency that tbh bugs me a little is that cars sometimes don't break, like breaks fail. I have this sensation, that depending on the surface car behave completely different, not just some variations, but it's kinda of grotesque how in some surfaces the same car feels totally griped to the ground and in other it's like jelly, and I'm even talking about the same category, for example, gravel, it varies a lot with the different subcategories of gravel. After playing WRC8 I had the urge to play a little more another rally game.
